WEST PALM BEACH, FL — The countdown to the West Palm Beach GreenMarket’s 29th Season has started. The famed GreenMarket will return on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on the Great Lawn (100 N. Clematis St.). This year’s theme, “Here We Grow Again,” is a nod to the Market’s year-over-year growth and expanded offerings. This year’s GreenMarket will open as the largest ever, boasting 125 vendors, 30 of which are new. It will also feature twice the entertainment, a monthly Master Chef Showcase competition and more than one weekly workshop.

The season opener will also celebrate the notable national recognition of the GreenMarket as the “Best Farmers Market” in the U.S., a third consecutive win via a USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Poll. West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James and City Commissioners will participate in a special opening day ceremony at approximately 9:45 a.m.

“We are excited for the return of the West Palm Beach GreenMarket,” said Mayor Keith A. James. “As the largest market in our history – and ‘Best Farmers Market’ nationwide – we know this will be another successful season. With well over 100 vendors, twice the entertainment, and more weekly workshops, our Market is more than a place to shop, but instead a full morning of bustling activity on our beautiful Waterfront. I hope everyone makes plans to come experience this special event!”

Over the years, GreenMarket organizers have focused the GreenMarket’s growth on more than just adding new vendors, but on the total experience. This year’s GreenMarket will feature two musical acts in different areas, as well as two weekly workshops and a new monthly Master Chef Showcase.

The weekly workshops include topics such as “fresh salsa making,” “mastering charcuterie skills,” “tricks for ceviche,” “do-it-yourself wreath making,” and more. Participants can sign up on the City’s website, wpb.org/events and fees will vary depending on the topic.

The Master Chef Showcase will take place on the first Saturday of each month for the duration of the season and feature top West Palm Beach GreenMarket vendors and local chefs. Each month will feature a different cuisine, and the finale in April will be the chef’s choice to determine who will be the ultimate winner of the West Palm Beach GreenMarket Master Chef 2024.

Green Market produce
The GreenMarket features locally grown fresh vegetables and fruit.

West Palm Beach GreenMarket vendors sell various products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, coffees and teas, flowers and plants, homemade specialty items, desserts and treats, and so much more. The 30 new vendors include:

  • Azme Taco, Brooklyn Cupcake, CasaPan Healthy Artisan Breads, Casa Truffle, Catherine’s Clean Skincare, Coastal Clay, Coconut Bar, Coley’s Crumbs, Colorado Coffer, Creamed Honey Co., Cultures, Earl’s Slow And Low BBQ, Farmerboxmeal, Fruitful Society Mushrooms, Heavenly Green, Hive Bakery & Café, Holy Smokes Fish Dip, Homegrown Shrimp USA, Kcee Nursery, Lo’s Pie Shop, La Strada, Liquid Gold Honey, Palm Beach Salt Co., Rancher’s Reserve, Rosa Ice Cream, Sugar Coat It Bakery, The Kookie Box, The Native Bird, The Stand by Palmtrees & Popcorn and Whispering Oak Kombucha.

“What an honor it is to hold the title as the No. 1 market in the U.S. for not just another year, but three years in a row,” said Mary Pinak, community events manager for the City of West Palm Beach. “We are grateful to our community for making this possible, especially those who participate and support our market week after week, including our vendors, sponsors and marketgoers.”

The Market’s mission is to provide the community seasonal access to locally grown fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, plants and agricultural products. The Market supports the southeast Florida agricultural community and stimulates agricultural development, particularly in Palm Beach County, by providing an outlet for locally grown crops and specialty products. The West Palm Beach GreenMarket has been featured in The Boston Globe and named the number one green market in Florida by Cooking Light magazine. In 2021, the GreenMarket was recognized by VISIT FLORIDA with a silver Flagler Award at the tourism marketing cooperative’s annual Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism.

Parking is available in the City of West Palm Beach’s public garages, which are the Clematis, Banyan, City Center, Sapodilla, and Evernia garages. The Banyan and Evernia garages are closest to the event and are subject to the City’s all-day weekend flat rate of $5. The City Center, Clematis and Sapodilla garages will be free during market hours, with current parking rates in effect afterward. Those interested in arriving by boat can also take advantage of the City’s free public docks. The Clematis Street Dock is the closest dock to the market.
