New ‘Highlighting Heritage’ Initiative is Underway
Mayor and City Commissioners honored Recipients for Black History Month
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – In the month of February, Mayor Keith A. James announced his new initiative, ‘Highlighting Heritage’, to recognize individuals during two separate month-long heritage celebrations. During the Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023, the Mayor, and each of the five City Commissioners honored a resident who played a vital role in serving and improving West Palm Beach. The very first honorees of this initiative were Bishop AJ Wright, Annie Nelson, Edith Bush, Trinnette Morris, Michael Odom and Dr. Mary Ann Dupont.
Bishop AJ Wright was honored by Mayor Keith A. James
Annie Ruth Nelson was honored by Commissioner Christy Fox
Edith Coleman Bush was honored by Commissioner Cathleen Ward
Trinnette Morris was honored by Commissioner Christina Lambert
Michael Odum was honored by Commissioner Joe Peduzzi
Mary Ann DuPont was honored by Commissioner Shalonda Warren
The newly expanded ‘highlighting heritage’ initiative will continue in September for Hispanic Heritage month with new honorees.
