City of West Palm Beach Hosts Open House at Fire Station 8
Mayor James, Commissioner Christina Lambert and Commissioner Joseph Peduzzi with Firefighters
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – The City of West Palm Beach celebrated the full staffing of the recently upgraded Fire Station 8 and held an Open House on Saturday, Feb. 11. West Palm Beach residents had the opportunity to meet the fire chief, firefighters and K9 rescue dogs, take photos with a fire truck, and check their blood pressure during the celebration.
“As your Mayor, public safety is my utmost priority. This, of course, includes our outstanding firefighters who are committed to the health and well-being of our communities” said Mayor Keith A. James. “The heroic men and women of our West Palm Beach Fire Department, under the leadership of Fire Chief Diana Matty, have long-established a legacy of live-saving response, treatment, safety education and the use of the state-of-the-art technologies upon which our residents have come to rely.”

The City of West Palm Beach has seen exponential growth in its western communities, resulting in a greater need for an increase in fire rescue services. To address this need, the City of West Palm Beach upgraded the former trailer “station” to a $6.3 million brick-and-mortar station. This includes a new fire engine and rescue truck.
