Celebrate and support local literary community
The Miami-Dade Public Library System invites the community to its 2026 Local Author Book Fair, a free event celebrating local writers and the vibrant literary culture of Miami-Dade County. The event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Main Library located at 101 West Flagler Street in Miami. The Author Exhibit Hall will open at 1 p.m. Free parking is available at the Miami-Dade Cultural Center Garage at 50 NW 2nd Avenue with ticket validation and the Government Center Station is the nearest Metrorail stop.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet more than 80 local authors, enjoy author presentations, readings, storytimes and learn insider tips through publishing workshops. There will be illustration sessions led by Marvel and DC Comics artist Ralph Cabrera, as well as children’s programs, including a performance of The Snow Queen by Atlantic Coast Theatre, and photo opportunities with characters such as Bad Kitty, Jasper Rabbit, and Esteban the Magnificent. The event will also feature live music, crafts, and other activities.
Special guests include Brad Meltzer, a New York Times bestselling author, who will share insights on writing thrillers, children’s books and comic books like Batman and Spider-Man. Ron Magill from Zoo Miami and Greg Cote from The Miami Herald will discuss their book, The Pride of a Lion, and what the animal kingdom can teach us about survival, fear and family. Miami-based author Asha Elias will present a workshop on demystifying the publishing process and children’s author Sita Singh will lead a session on discovering and developing story ideas. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.
